You know the EX500 is actually a pretty good option for the class. From what I've seen the bikes are indeed about 45 hp stock and 50 with headers and a good jet kit setup. Later models had 17" wheels. These are practically given away on craigslist because they have late 80's written all over them. You just have to short shift them hard because they have no top end.

So start combing craigslist for EX500's! I think I saw a decent one for $500 a couple weeks ago, hahah.

added the BMW G310. surprisingly low hp, and due to 313cc, also is not allowed in the 300 classes.

I was nosing through the results from the weekend and one guy in amateur 500SS and SB was on a KTM SMR 560 supermoto. WTF... that bike is only about 240 lbs and makes mid 50's hp. He had 1st place both races. How can that bike be allowed? Sheesh.

The 560 SMR was never a street legal bike though. So that must mean he got special permission to run it, right? Like those CRF450's I see in the results.

CCS must be so desperate for race registrations that they will say yes to anything.

I'm betting it is more that they don't know it wasn't a street legal bike.
